2003 E46 convertible - sounds better than the HK speakers - give them a chance to "break in"

I bought the BSD.S1.E46.CV.THF-Kit this past May. If you're like me, I didn't mind the sound of my car's Harmon Kardon speakers but wished they had more bass. When I would turn up the bass on the head unit (standard Business CD), the bass would just sound muddy, so I always left it at the normal setting. This year, my right-front mid-woofer made a crackling sound like it was blown, but that crackling went away the next time I started the car (not sure what happened there). However that gave me a nudge to buy the Bavsound speakers. The installation was straight-forward. I downloaded a .pdf for how to install, that was relatively easy to follow, and I believe that would be the same for most people as long as they have the trim tools needed for prying-off trim clips and panels. After installing, the speakers sounded "good" but they sounded like the left-front speaker was louder than the right-front. I thought maybe I'd connected one of the mid-woofers backwards or there was a problem with the mid-tweeter on the right side. I took the door cards back off, but no problem found. I swapped mid-tweeters from one side to the other, but the left-front still sounded louder, so I set the balance two "ticks" to the right to make it sound normal. Maybe 3 days later, I was driving into work with the music louder than usual. After work that day, I noticed the right-front had become louder than the left front, so I set the balance to the center to make it sound perfectly, and has ever since (maybe 1 1/2 months now). I say all this to say: if you notice the left-front slightly louder than the right-front, then crank some music for a few days and it will even out. I'm guessing those speakers just had to "break in". Now, I really do like how these speakers sound. They are noticeably better than the HK's were. "There's more there" to the sound is how I'd put it in words. More detail you can hear. Basically no harshness. All of these woofers/mids/tweeters from the kit play harmoniously together. There's a little more bass than the HK's had. I wish there were more bass, but I would have to upgrade the subwoofer. I think we can all agree this kit is expensive, but where else can you find speakers made to work perfectly with the factory HK amp? I know that amp requires particular ohms for each speaker (around 2 ohms each) and connecting speakers with the wrong impediance won't sound good. I think Bavsound is the only company to offer speakers that match the ohms we need in our older BMW's, and they sound good too, so that's why I'm satisfied with my purchase.

Great product and price

Beautiful subwoofers that definitely put out more bass, hit cleaner, and can go lower in frequency. The best part is they are one of the more affordable options, and, based on competitor reviews, they are better than some of the more expensive ones. I'm a happy customer.

Speaker Install and Review

I purchased just the speakers to replace my existing stock speakers in my 2008 328i Conv. I must say the speakers are a great upgrade from the stock HI-FI speakers and the install videos were right on point. Everything was straight forward and the speakers fit perfectly. I could not be happier with this upgrade!

Got the underseat woofers in my m340i with HK. They sound great but have a sound issue at certain frequencies. Still working on resolving this but just wanted to leave a review for the great customer service and support of bavsound. Highly recommend doing business with them as they’ve been trying their best to help and resolve my issue.

Very nice sound

I waited to give this review until after the break in period. After the necessary time I was able to set the sound how i prefer. The sound is so much better than the stock speakers. Very crisp highs and strong base. Definitely recommend the speakers. The only thing that was questionable was the lack of response when I had a few questions regarding the installation. I sent in a question two separate times and never received a response.

Well worth it!

Installing was tricky for someone without auto DIY experience, but was possible if you invest the time. End result is outstanding. Real power to the music

2001 BMW 325i convertible e46

Extremely happy with my stage one upgrade! I just purchased this vehicle and knew the factory speakers were going to be bad after 24 years. After installing a new Eonon head unit it, new speakers were a must! After hours of research online, I kept coming back to the BAVSOUND plug and play, quality sound upgrade, and over simplicity to just order the kit! Instructions were great, and a simple enough install for a DYI project. I had some issues with getting the rear tweeters first try. 2016 F30 328i Sedan

I purchased both the Ghost Subwoofers and Stage One speaker upgrade. While it was not completely plug and play for installation (mainly mounting); once installation was complete, it was night and day over the Hi-Fi system. Still working to break-in the subwoofers but so far the sound is amazing, as an Audiophile (home and car); I am throughly impressed with the imaging provided by the new speakers; more so you do not "feel" the subs, but you hear them and fit in great with the overall imaging of the system. Debating on purchasing the additional Amplifier for the system, going to wait until the sub's have broken in and also watch for sales or discounts on the amp :). Overall very pleased and in reality it is not that expensive for the full speaker upgrade, coming from home Hi-Fi audio, the price is incredibly reasonable, even having my independent BMW service center do the installation, cost was still overall reasonable.
